Finding the song that wants to be written
Discover how to dip into your creative flow in this (song)writing workshop with Margot Merah
What songs do you love to listen to and why do you love them? What makes a song move you? I have created a workshop that is fun and interesting for both beginners and more experienced (song)writers. We will look at aspects of song structure, lyrics, emotion, harmony and melody and rhythm in songs we already know and love. We will then get to work ourselves and explore through exercises and discussion ways to get your own creative juices flowing. A very practical workshop with lots of tips and tricks to get out of your own way and will definitely get you writing! Come with an open mind and an open heart. By creating a safe and exploratory environment, we will learn what inspires us in songs and how to find the song that wants to be written.
Creating Unforgettable Performances
a workshop by Kathryn Claire to inspire you to perform from your heart, connect with your audience, and share your gifts on and off stage
Are you at the beginning of your journey of being a live musical performer and want help navigating the world of gigs on and off stage? Are you a seasoned performer but want to finetune your stage presence and audience interaction? In this workshop we will explore all kinds of topics including setting up and sound check, setting a tone and connecting with the audience, physicality of performance and how to stay calm and at ease (even if you are not!), how to craft a set and any other questions you may have. We will create a safe and supportive environment to try new approaches to your performance and to leave you feeling inspired and ready to get on stage. Please prepare 3 songs to play in a “mini” set. Each participant will share their songs and then we will workshop ideas on how to make their set the best it can be. Wear whatever you would normally perform in. I can’t wait to see you!
